Success, as you know, requires perseverance and a lot of patience. That was the lesson Bon Truong, a landscaper from Edmonton, Alberta in Canada, learned. The lucky man managed to win $60 million in the lottery after playing for thirty years. The interesting thing is that all this time Truong filled in the same numbers in his lottery tickets.

The winning numbers – 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 20 and 30 are based on important dates and birthdays of family members. Now, after a few decades of playing those numbers, he’s a multimillionaire, according to a press release from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC).

“I went to the store and asked the clerk to print off the winning numbers – just to be sure,” he tells WCLC. “I took the printout home and stared at the numbers and my ticket for hours that day. I could not believe it.”

Truong purchased his winning ticket in October 2018 at Pure Casino Yellowhead in Edmonton. It was another ten months before he finally decided to collect his winnings. The winner couldn’t believe until the end how much impact such a huge sum would have on his life and his family members:

“I started to think about what this win would mean for my family,” he said. “I realized it’s going to change a lot of things and I wanted to make sure we were all ready and prepared for those changes.

The Canadian wants to use the money he wins to pay off all his debts and buy a new home. He’s also planning to go on a long vacation, but he hasn’t decided where he wants to go yet. What’s funny is that Truong wants to return to his favourite job after his long vacation.
